Game Programmer In Need - Unity Community


Universal Labs Gaming Programming & Consultant Position

Universal Labs is looking to hire a game programmer for an online and mobile game app to help serve as an advisor, consultant, and programmer to our chief software engineer. All 2D artwork supplied will need to be converted into a format suitable for 2.5D game engines. The primary language is Java. The candidate will be required to work up to 10 to 20 hours per week until completion of project paid at a negotiated hourly rate, with possible bonuses based on performance.

The candidate will work closely with the chief software engineer, which will follow and document all aspects of formal game design, using mock-up screenshots, sample menu layouts, game play flowcharts, and other graphical devices. The candidate should expect to provide test specifications to quality assurance staff and assist in minor programming of graphic designs and animations. We are looking for someone with a great understanding and fundamental background of online/mobile game design, HTML5, Facebook game Integration knowledge, and restful web-services knowledge.

Required Understanding of Programming for Animation, Modeling, & Texturing:

*The ability to program animations for models that are compatible with 2.5D cloud rendering services such as Cloud Mach.

*Proficient graphic design and animation for 2.5D games.

*Programming of low poly characters/content.

*Knowledge of Facial Feature Point Tracking or Detection of Facial Feature Points to make characters speak, and make facial expressions.

*The candidate may be required to design the graphics for websites that promote the game in coding.

*Capability with experience of animating realistic humans, including facial animation is required.

*Have a great understanding of acting principals and basic camera staging. Be flexible with making edits and revisions based on game play requirements.

*The candidate must articulate an artistic talent and understanding of human behaviour, kinetics, and latest technology.

*Characters and content will need to be programmed to perform animations such as movement, walking, talking, etc.

*Knowledge in the mechanics of avatars (players will convert their photos to avatars).

*Will be required to create high quality deals and textures.

Experience working with real time, interactive characters is a plus. Candidates having an understanding of programs like or similar to Unity, Maya, Photoshop and Java games will be greatly appreciated.

This position is work from home and will need to be available at least once a week for Skype conference calls. Assuming these qualifications are met the optimal best candidate will also be imaginative, hard working, trustworthy, self motivated, easy to get along with, fun, and enthusiastic about gaming and games!
