Dana Redburn, Nevada park and recreation director, fits 7-year-old Cody Leung out with a bike helmet, as his father Jason Leung watches during a Bike Rodeo sponsored by the Nevada Police Department Saturday morning at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center. The bike helmets, which were given to children attending the event, were furnished by Aaron Sachs and Associates of Joplin.
Nevada Daily MailArea children joined members of the Nevada police, parks and recreation, and fire departments for lessons in the rules of the road and other bicycle safety basics during a bike rodeo at the Franklin P. Norman City/County Community Center on Saturday.
Children who attended also registered bicycles with the Nevada Police Department; but those who did not attend may register bicycles with the police department, 120 S. Ash, Nevada, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours. Each participating child also received a new safety helmet; and while members of the fire department and the parks and recreation department grilled hot dogs, representatives of the Healthy Nevada project helped out, providing a mechanic who conducted bike repairs and inspections.
Five-year-old Kiera Gravely maneuvers through a serpentine course of cones before coming to a stop at an intersection manned by the police department.
Various items for the event were donated by Aaron Sachs and Associates of Joplin, Ramey's Supermarket, Woods Supermarket, 3M, Sonic, Pizza Hut and Wal-Mart.Source: http://www.nevadadailymail.com/story/1899657.html
