Diabetes Drugs Facing Cancer-Related Lawsuits

Diabetes drugs are under fire again. This time, Actos, the world?s most popular diabetes medication, is the subject of hundreds of lawsuits for significantly increasing users? risk of cancer according to NewsInferno. People taking Actos were found to be 22 percent more likely to develop bladder cancer than users of other diabetes medicines.

Some European countries, such as France and Germany, have already halted the sale of Actos after this bladder cancer discovery. In addition to cancer, Actos has also been linked to an increase risk of heart disease. Taking both of these health factors into account, it?s enough to give users of Actos a reason for concern.

Of course, diabetics aren?t just taking Actos needlessly. Currently, Actos is one of the best-known drugs not only for treating diabetes, but also perhaps preventing diabetes, too. Since the research doesn?t contest the drug?s ability to manage type 2 diabetes, if you take Actos, be sure to consult with your doctor in order to make an informed, healthy decision on how to proceed with your treatment.
